Kathmandu. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has urged the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to make necessary arrangements to simplify agricultural credit.
The Governor of the Central Bank. In a discussion with Bishwanath Poudel, Minister Adhikari pointed out the need for provision of providing loans to small farmers in a simple and easy manner as the role of banks and financial institutions is important to remove poverty through agriculture.
“I request the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to effectively monitor whether the agricultural loan has been properly utilised or not,” he said. Minister Adhikari stressed that there should not be a situation where anyone can get loan for other purposes. Minister Adhikari stressed the need for the government-owned banks to increase agricultural credit and follow the provisions made by the Rastra Bank regarding agricultural loans.
Governor of The Rastra Bank. Poudel said that it was necessary to work in such a way that the investment made in agriculture is not being utilized at present. Governor Dr Poudel stressed on the need for investment in agriculture without making the farmers professional.
He also said that when he visited different districts recently, he had heard complaints that those who play soil do not get agricultural loans and those who play paper get loans.
