12 arrested for vandalizing police station

Jhapa. Police have arrested 12 people involved in vandalism, arson and looting of buildings and vehicles of various police offices in the district during the demonstration.

On September 24, there were incidents of arson, vandalism, looting and assault on police personnel at Anarmani, Surunga and Area Police Offices in Damak. Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, said that the accused was identified and taken under control based on the analysis and analysis of CCTV footage, videos and photos of the case.

The arrestees have been identified as Nawaraj Rai, 45, Rajan Chaudhary, 22, Ayush Dhimal, 20, of Birtamode – 5, Gopal Sangraula, 42, of Kankai-1, Bishnu BK, 25, of Kankai-3, Kushal Timsina, 25, of Shivasatakshi-10, Sanjay Basnet, 31, of the same ward, Puja Magar, 24, of Birtamode – 5 and Suraj Rai, 28, of Arjundhara-7.

Likewise, Riyaz Silwal, 19, of Damak-3, Nakul Adhikari, 22, of Chulachuli-3, Ilam and Sajan Lhagun, 22, of Miklajung-5, Panchthar and currently living in Damak-1 were also arrested.

Police Spokesperson Khadka said that the arrested have been remanded in custody from Jhapa District Court on the charge of criminal nuisance and attempt to murder. Of the 99 weapons looted during the Genji protests on September 10, 77 have been returned. Now, 22 weapons are yet to be returned, police said.
