KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the National Statistics Office (NFS) jointly organized an interaction programme with the industrialists and businessmen on the implementation of the National Economic Census-2082 at the FNCCI secretariat on Monday.
On the occasion, the industrialists and entrepreneurs stressed on the need of collaboration between the government bodies and private sector to make the National Economic Census 2082 a success. The National Economic Census 2082 is being conducted by the National Statistical Office with the objective of collecting, processing, analyzing and publishing the basic details of the economic enterprises operating across the country.
Hemraj Dhakal, vice-president of the Federation of Interaction Programmes, said that the census would provide real economic condition of the country, the status of industry and business, investment trend and employment statistics of the country. Stating that the census would not be successful without the active participation of the private sector, he said the FNCCI was ready for all necessary cooperation and cooperation.
Similarly, Joint Secretary at the Office of Statistics Office, Dhundiraj Lamichhane, said that the National Economic Census-2082 would collect detailed data on industrial, business and service sectors and help in the formulation of evidence-based policies. He made it clear that data confidentiality would be ensured and urged the entrepreneurs to provide the required details confidently.

For the first time in 2018, the National Bureau of Statistics (NSO) had conducted the Economic Census of 18 different groups of economic units in the International Industrial Classification in one go. The National Statistical Office (NSO) is going to conduct the second economic census till April 17, 2083.
On the occasion, Director of the Statistics Office, Dr. Prof. Ved Prasad Dhakal presented the need, objectives and importance of the National Economic Census 2082.
To assist in the formulation of policies and plans to be determined by the government from the National Economic Census and in the measurement of the goals set through the policy, to produce basic data for the strengthening of the estimates of GDP and other estimates of the national account, to produce the data needed to change the base year of the national account, to develop a sample selection frame required for all types of surveys for economic statistics, It was informed that the aim was to build the basis for the creation of a statistical business register and to prepare the indicators of the informal economy.
