Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested three persons, including an officer working at the Foreign Postal Customs Section of Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office, with bribe money.
The arrestees are Indra Neupane, customs officer at the Foreign Postal Customs Section, office assistant Ganesh Prasad Pudasaini and non-gazetted first class officer Chhabi Prasad Rijal of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Department of Postal Services, Goshwara Postal Office, Parcel (Export) Section.
According to the preliminary investigation, the employees used to harass the service recipients and extort money while sending parcels abroad.
The CIAA has arrested 3 persons including Indra Neupane, a customs officer working at the Foreign Postal Customs Branch, with bribe. The CIAA has confiscated Rs 268,288 in cash from them and 23 mobile sets from different persons.
According to the CIAA, the police have recovered Rs 146,420 including Rs 10,000 as bribe and Rs 40,350 from Pudasaini’s office.
Police confiscated Rs 38,848 including Rs 20,000 for bribe and Rs 18,848 from Rijal.
CIAA Spokesperson Suresh Neupane said that further investigation into the case has been initiated by taking the three arrested under control.
