Birgunj. KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office (DAO) has closed off the international border points with India for 72 hours in view of the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives.

Assistant Chief District Officer of Parsa, Binod Kumar Pokharel, said that the border points in East Champaran and West Champaran districts of Bihar state of India have been closed for the purpose of election security. “The border points will be closed from 12.00 midnight of March 2 to 12.00 midnight on March 4,” he said, adding that there is a tradition of both countries shutting the borders for 72 hours during the elections. ”

On the occasion, Assistant CDO Pokharel urged all to celebrate the Holi festival in Tarai-Madhes on March 19 in a cordial and election-friendly manner. “We urge one and all not to crowd in public places, make noise, use colours forcibly and consume alcohol to undermine social harmony on the occasion of the Holi festival,” he said. ”

The notice states that the use of motorcycles has been prohibited on the occasion of March 20 due to the rise in motorcycle accidents on the occasion of Holi. According to the district administration, the district administration has banned the play of sound-polluting musical instruments including DJ in the religious, cultural and social programs of any political party, assembly procession and religious, cultural and social programs from March 2 until the election results are announced.
