Department imposes fines on three firms, corrective directives to 12 more

Kathmandu.  The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has imposed fines on three firms. The department has fined Suva Grocery, Pramisa Food Store and AJ Sulpiers after they were found to be negligent during an on-site inspection.

According to the department, Suva Grocery based in Bungmati of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22 has been fined Rs 50,000. The department also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Pramisa Food Store based in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-18, Magargaun and Rs 10,000 on AJ Suppliers based in Pandu Bazaar of Suryabinayak municipality-6. The department has taken action against these firms as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.

The department has issued corrective directives to 12 more firms. The Department has been regularly monitoring the market with the presence of local people’s representatives, consumer rights activists and stakeholders as well.
