Kathmandu. Rainfall has started from western Nepal with cloudy weather due to the influence of westerly low pressure system and local wind.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are completely cloudy while remaining parts are generally cloudy. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is taking place at few places of Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces at present÷ the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

Meteorologist at the Department, Rojan Lamichhane, said rainfall will increase in the daytime with chances of heavy rain and snowfall in some places. According to the rainfall measurement received at the Department at 10:00 am, rainfall has occurred in more than 60 centres west of Chitwan in the last three hours. According to the Division, Achham has received 8.6 millimetres, Surkhet 7.6 millimetres, Dadeldhura 5.2 millimetres, Rolpa 8.2 millimetres, Pyuthan 5.2 millimetres and Chitwan 4.2 millimetres.

Similarly, light rainfall occurred in Kalikot, Doti, Rukum, Rolpa, Myagdi, Baglung, Dang, Arghakhanchi, among other districts. The rainfall is in the process of shifting towards the east.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather will be completely cloudy in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces towards the afternoon while it will be generally cloudy in the rest of the country. In the afternoon, there are chances of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at many places of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few places of hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

Likewise, there are chances of heavy rain and snowfall at one or two places of the hilly and mountainous region of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
