Triveni Rural Municipality sells ginger worth Rs 55 million

Rukum West. Triveni Rural Municipality of Rukum (West) has collected Rs 55.65 million from the sale of ginger this year. The amount was brought from the sale of ginger produced by 2,650 farmers in the rural municipality.

According to Ain Bahadur Karki, chief of the Agriculture Section of Triveni Rural Municipality, the rural municipality produced 15,900 quintals of ginger this year. Each of the 2,650 households cultivating ginger has around two ropanis of land. Ginger is being produced in 5,300 ropanis of land in the rural municipality. According to him, around three quintals of ginger is produced in one ropani of land.

Each farmer sells ginger at Rs 3,500 per quintal from the village, said Karki. Traders come to the village to buy ginger. Nare Khadka, a local of Khumcheri in Triveni-4, who is commercially involved in ginger farming, said he has made Rs 100,000 this year from the sale of ginger. He has been involved in ginger farming for the last 22 years. He said that out of the total production this year, three and a half quintals have been kept for seeds.
