Kathmandu. Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, said that the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has implemented the ‘car pooling’ programme to drive the vehicles in rotation following the fuel cut.

He said that this decision has been taken to reduce the situation created by the fuel shortage and the negative impact it can have in the long run.

“There is a shortage of fuel all over the world. At this time, the fuel needed for essential work and services may not be available while operating the vehicle in the same condition. There is no alternative to reducing the use of fuel to prevent such a problem. That’s why we have implemented the ‘car pooling’ program to prevent possible fuel-related problems,” Dangol said.

The metropolis has already reduced the fuel quota in the 48th executive meeting. In the ‘Car Pooling’ program, a group of officials coming from the same place has been formed on the basis of the area of residence. Those in this group should take turns to drive the vehicles they have and bring the officers close to them. This will reduce the number of vehicles coming to and going to the office and use fuel.
