. KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has initiated initiatives to make internet services easier, faster and hassle-free in Singha Durbar and its premises.
For this, the Ministry has directed the Integrated Data Management Center located in Singha Durbar area.TAG_OPEN_div_35
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina during the discussion with Chief of Data Management Center Manish Bhattarai directed the government agencies in Singha Durbar to further strengthen and make the IT infrastructures more effective.TAG_OPEN_div_33
During the discussion held at the Ministry today, Minister Timilsina stressed the need of ensuring quality internet service in all the agencies in Singha Durbar.TAG_OPEN_div_31 He made it clear that the internet services would not be disrupted under any circumstances and directed the service providers and bodies concerned to adopt high alertness. He laid special emphasis on identifying possible causes of disruption in service and resolving them on time.
Minister Timilsina urged all bodies concerned to work responsibly and responsibly, stressing the need of making cooperation, coordination and regular monitoring more effective.TAG_OPEN_div_29 Stating that effective administration would not be possible without improving the quality of digital services, he said the government has prioritized technology-based service delivery.
Minister Timilsina also stressed on the management of skilled human resources as problems may arise due to technical and human errors.TAG_OPEN_div_27 He directed the Nepal Telecom to mobilize a team with skilled technicians to resolve the possible problems immediately.
On the occasion, Bhattarai, chief of the Integrated Data Management Center (ICMC), informed about the current situation of internet service in Singha Durbar.TAG_OPEN_div_25 According to him, at present, there is a problem of internet slowdown in some offices and sometimes disconnection. He also informed that necessary technical improvement and management measures have been adopted to prevent recurrence of such problems.
Currently, 1 Gbps broadband service is being operated in Singha Durbar through Nepal Telecom and 250 Mbps additional broadband is being used for ‘G-Cloud’ operation.TAG_OPEN_div_23 He said that most of the problems seen in internet service are due to the obstruction of optical fiber. According to him, the problem of fiber cutting or damage is seen especially during the construction of roads and other infrastructures. He pointed out the need to lay the optical fibre from the ground in a systematic way for the long-term solution to such problems.
Earlier, when the internet service was disrupted from one place in Singha Durbar, an arrangement was made to continue the service through another alternative system. Stating that the system has become weak at present, Bhattarai said initiatives are being made to make it stronger again. He also pointed out the need to depute skilled human resources related to information technology in every ministry and agency as the internal server and network management inside the office is the responsibility of the concerned body although the management of external internet connection in the Singha Durbar premises is in the responsibility of the concerned body.
This TAG_OPEN_div_19 initiative for improving internet service in Singha Durbar area has been taken as an important step in the context the government aims to make service delivery fast, transparent and effective by strengthening digital infrastructure.
