Jhapa. Two factories operating at Birtamod municipality-4 in the district caught fire this morning.

The inferno has caused huge damages to the industries, informed Information Officer at the District Police Office, Khagendra Bahadur Khadka.

The fire broke out simultaneously at Jhapali Chips Factory operated by Bhakti Prasad Upreti and Saugat Wood Furniture of Chandra Prasad Kharel at around 4.15 am today.

According to the preliminary estimate, the fire destroyed raw materials, finished materials and machinery of both the industries.

A police team from Area Police Office, Birtamode, Armed Police Force Base Camp, Bhadrapur and Mechinagar municipalities and locals doused the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, police said.
