UK Ambassador meets Education Minister Pokharel

Kathmandu. UK’s Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokhrel, at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar today.

During the meeting held at the Ministry in Singha Durbar, they discussed Nepal’s cooperation in education and sports. The meeting also focused on historic bilateral relations between Nepal and the UK, cooperation and mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the continuity of the UK government’s support and cooperation in the education sector. During the meeting, Minister Pokharel and Ambassador Fein held consultations regarding collaboration for autism school to be run by the Government of Nepal in all seven provinces and on the professional capacity development of teachers.

Minister Pokharel, who is also the Spokesperson of the Government of Nepal, sought continued support from the UK government in the reform of education sector and capacity building of teachers. On the occasion, Minister Pokharel expressed the belief that there would be necessary support for the Azitam School in terms of resource and human resource development as well as professional capacity development of teachers.

On the occasion, the British ambassador said the UK government was keen on supporting and collaborating Nepal in the educational and sports sectors as well as other sectors since the past.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations and mutual interests. Likewise, discussions were held on cooperation in capacity building of teachers and possibilities of transnational education in Nepal.
