Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Department of Immigration (DoI) has said its serious attention has been drawn to the issue of stamping of Nepali nationals going to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a note “Employment is Strictly Prohabited, Visit till 10-6-2026”.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the department clarified that there was no policy or decision to allow such a condition. Taking into consideration the issue spread in social networks and media outlets, the Department said it has forwarded an internal investigation into the suspicion of the illegal practice.

According to the Department, traveling abroad has become not only an opportunity but also a compulsion for many Nepalis. The immigration administration has been making various efforts to control fraud and exploitation by misusing this situation.

According to the government’s decision of Kartik 13, 2082, the process has been simplified for Nepali citizens going abroad on visit visa. As per the decision, a passport valid for at least 6 months, air ticket to destination country and visa of concerned country can be allowed to go abroad with self-declaration.

The department has also stated that it is working on policy facilitation and system modernization to ease the movement of passengers.

The department has also warned that legal action will be taken against the employees who violate the prevailing laws and departmental decisions.
