Kathmandu. A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the eviction of settlements built on the banks of various rivers and public places in Kathmandu.
According to SC Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, 11 people including Gopal Ranpahli have filed the writ petition against the government’s decision to evict the landless squatters.
KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have issued a notice to the squatters living on the banks of the rivers in Kathmandu to evict the squatters by 7:00 pm today.
The writ petition has demanded that the government not to evict, evict or displace any landless families without identifying, verifying and making alternative arrangements to the landless families living in the Kathmandu Valley and on the banks of the rivers across the country or any other place.
