Parsa. Fresh vegetables that have not been quarantined are being smuggled into Birgunj from the Indian border market Raxaul.

Taking advantage of the open border border with Parsa and Bara districts from Raxaul, the border town of Birgunj, fresh vegetables are brought to Birgunj daily. Cyclists who carry fresh vegetables and fruits here bring fresh vegetables and fruits to Birgunj.

Bicycle riders have been taking advantage of the open border points in Bishrampur Rural Municipality of Bara, Nagawa and Inarwa of Birgunj Metropolitan City to bring vegetables and fruits on a daily basis. Ajit Bhujel, a central member of the Forum for Protection of Consumer Rights, said that the entry of vegetables and fruits from the open border without quarantine check should also be controlled.

“Various groups take advantage of the open border to smuggle vegetables by bicycle from Chhapkaiya, Inaruwa, Bishrampur among other places on a daily basis”, he said, adding that the local administration and Armed Police Force should pay attention to this. ”

Cyclists in Birgunj have been bringing Indian vegetables on each bicycle since early morning without quarantine check. The local administration and the armed police deployed at the border areas have not been able to take action. Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said that only vegetables and fruits that have qualified for quarantine check after completing the customs process will be allowed to be entered. “Fresh vegetables and fruits cannot be brought without quarantine check,” he said, adding, “If anyone has brought it, it will be taken under control after necessary monitoring.” ”

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohan Bahadur Chhetri said vegetables enter Birgunj bazaar from the border area adjoining Bishrampur rural municipality of Bara rather than the border of Parsa.
