. KATHMANDU: The campaign to remove structures constructed illegally by encroaching upon government and public land in the Bagmati River and its tributaries in the Kathmandu Valley has been intensified.

Assistant District Officer of Kathmandu, Mukti Ram Rijal, said that the unauthorized structures were removed in coordination with the Ministry of Urban Development, District Administration Office Kathmandu and Kathmandu Metropolitan City.TAG_OPEN_div_31

“The process of removing illegally constructed houses and huts is going on in Sattale, Pathibhara and Tenzing Chowk of Kapan,” he said.

The process of clearing the encroached structures of Anamnagar-Devinagar, Bishnumati River Bank, Balaju-Machhapokhari and Tilganga area under the Dhobi Khola River Corridor is underway.TAG_OPEN_div_27 According to him, more than two thousand three hundred huts have been removed in the Kathmandu Valley so far.

According to Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Force Bishnu Prasad Joshi, 15-TAG_OPEN_div_25 20 structures in Devinagar, three structures in Balaju and 89 structures in Tilganga are being removed today.

} The process of removing the encroached structures and squatters’ settlements in the Kathmandu Valley has started since last Saturday following the direction of Prime Minister Balendra Shah. Structures in Thapathali, Sinamangal-Gairigaun of Kathmandu and Manohara of Bhaktapur were removed on Saturday.
