Kathmandu. As many as 150 people have received counselling and treatment services through the ‘Nabil Free Burn Treatment Camp’ conducted at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj. The camp was jointly organized by Narayani Hospital, Birgunj and Nabil Bank with technical support from FACT Nepal.
According to the bank, surgeries were performed on 46 patients by senior doctors at the Jalan Camp. Of them, six patients with complicated nature have been referred to the Kirtipur-based Hospital.
Screening camps were organized in 27 municipalities of six districts of Madhesh province before the camp was conducted. In the camp, FACT Nepal’s health workers reached the local level and collected preliminary details of the patients.
Nabil Bank has been providing free treatment and consultation to the patients suffering from burning sensation in remote areas through specialized doctors based in Kathmandu. Manoj Kumar Gyawali, CEO of Nabil Bank, said, “As a part of its corporate social responsibility, Nabil Bank has organized the camp targeting the burnt survivors of remote areas of Madhesh province as they still do not need proper medical treatment.”
According to the bank, such camps are also being organized in Lumbini Province from May 9 to 28. FACT Nepal, Kirtipur Hospital’s Senior Plastic Surgeon Dr. A team of specialist doctors including Dr. Shankarman Rai performed the surgery at the camp targeting the patients of Madhesh Province.
“We had come here with the twin objectives of providing free treatment to burnt patients and capacity building of Narayani Hospital. Rai said. “We want this type of treatment related to burns to be provided from Narayani Hospital in the future. ’
Acting Chief Medical Superintendent of Narayani Hospital, Dr. Chittaranjan Shah said that he was happy that the patients who had been living a difficult life for years due to burns were able to work smoothly after the treatment. “The camp was very fruitful for the patients who were living a difficult life for long due to lack of proper treatment and I am confident that the camp would bring a positive change in their personal and social life.” Shah said.
Nabil Bank has been conducting free burn camps in different places of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces before this. A total of 65 people received treatment and counseling services in the first camp held in Dhangadhi from February 28 to 28 while 194 people received treatment and counseling services in the camp held in Karnali from April 13.
