Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balen Shah has called a meeting of the Constitutional Council. A meeting of the Council has been called to recommend appointments to constitutional posts.
The meeting has been called for 5 pm on Thursday, sources said. President Ram Chandra Poudel on Tuesday issued an ordinance related to the Constitutional Council on the recommendation of the government. Currently, the posts of the Chief Justice, Chief Election Commissioner and other constitutional officials are vacant.
Similarly, the post of chairman of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission is vacant and there is no other member except one. One member post is vacant in the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The post of chairperson and another member of the Inclusion Commission is also vacant. There is also a vacancy in the Women’s Commission. The posts of office-bearers in the Muslim Commission and Tharu Commission are also vacant.
The Council will recommend for the appointments to the constitutional posts and the President will appoint them after completing the parliamentary hearing process.
