Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the Special Court’s verdict on the case of the defendants including the then senior inspector of the Bureau of Standards and Metrology, Birgunj, Shashibhushan Kumar Yadav.

The anti-graft body had filed a case against Yadav on the charge of amassing illegal assets. The Special Court had given partial acquittal in the case in its verdict dated July 9, 2081. The illegally acquired property has been kept in the name of various relatives.

The NHRC has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court today, saying it was not satisfied with the decision of the Special Court. CIAA Spokesperson Suresh Neupane said that the appeal has been filed demanding further action as per the prevailing Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS.
