Kathmandu. The government is planning to develop digital content and AI-based learning system from the coming fiscal year 2083/84 BS.
The policies and programmes presented by President Ram Chandra Poudel in the joint session of the Federal Parliament have promised to expand e-learning, virtual classes, open digital materials and AI-based learning system. The government has put forward a plan to expand high-speed internet, digital content and AI-based learning system in 10,000 community schools.
The government’s policies and programmes have announced to ensure free education up to secondary level.
The government has said that the education would be made qualitative, useful to life and employment-oriented with the easy distribution of books, mid-day meal and uniform. In addition, a policy has been adopted to review the curriculum of all levels from time to time.
It is the policy of the government to interpret education as the basis for equality and prosperity. It states that the educational institutions run by the private sector would be made service-oriented and quality-oriented by increasing long-term investment in public education.
The government has adopted a policy of academic and governance restructuring of universities by linking higher education with the labour market. School mapping, adjustment, teachers’ recruitment, library and laboratory reforms will be implemented through an integrated plan.
The government is committed to ensuring equal access to quality education to children from the disadvantaged, marginalized, Dalit, indigenous nationalities, people with disabilities and backward areas. The government’s policies and programmes also mentions that health, nutrition, scholarships, residential facilities and safe learning environment would be further strengthened.
Therapy services, assistive technology, specially trained teachers and inclusive education system would be developed for children with autism and neurodiversity.
The government has stated that it will make all scholarship programs merit-based and make arrangements for payment directly into the bank accounts through digital system. The government has adopted a policy to make the teacher appointment, promotion and evaluation system transparent and merit-based, and to ensure professional development, management and proper remuneration of teachers.
The best teachers’ incentive program will be implemented and the curriculum, evaluation and certification system will be reviewed and improved to make school education learner-oriented.
The government’s policy and programmes have stated that talent identification programme would be conducted from the school level linking sports with national unity, health, tourism and economy. The government has a plan to ensure commercialization of sports sector, participation of private sector and social security of players.
Likewise, the government’s policies and programmes have stated that youths would be mobilized in digital literacy, community service, innovation and local development through the Rastriya Volunteer Programme.
