Supreme Court issues interim order not to implement decision to dissolve student unions

. KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order not to immediately implement the decision to dissolve student unions in universities.

A single bench of Justice Shreekanta Poudel issued the order not to implement the decision of the University Coordination Committee on April 20.TAG_OPEN_div_11 The court has summoned both sides for discussion on the issue on May 18.

The order also directs the government to submit a written reply through the Office of the Attorney General within 15 days from the date of receipt of the notice along with the grounds and reasons.TAG_OPEN_div_9

Deepak Dhami, president of All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), had filed a writ petition challenging the decision to dissolve the university’s student union, naming the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar as the defendant.TAG_OPEN_div_7
