Kathmandu. National Cooperative Bank’s Bagmati Province Board candidate Dr. Paritosh Poudel has filed his candidacy with the objective of making the cooperative bank stronger, transparent and members-friendly.
He has been active in the cooperative movement for more than three decades and said his experience will be the main foundation for the future leadership.
Poudel, who has been working in various capacities from the initial cooperatives to the national level organizations, is now contesting the election as a common candidate of the cooperatives. He made it clear that his main priority was to improve the financial management, institutional development and member service of the cooperative sector.
According to him, experience, financial understanding and commitment to the institution are most important in the selection of the leadership of a cooperative bank. “The cooperative bank is a common institution of members, capable leadership is needed to make it more effective and trustworthy,” he said.
Poudel stressed that the election should be taken as an opportunity to present positive competition and ideology. He said that the cooperative movement should be raised above personal accusations and focused on institutional development.
Clarifying about some of the issues raised on social media, he claimed that the allegations being spread around him did not match with the reality. He also said that his contribution to the institutional improvement of the cooperative movement and the long-term development of the cooperative movement will continue.
According to him, significant progress has been made in the institutional development of NEFSCUN during his tenure and the fact that the organization is operating from its own building today is an important achievement of the cooperative movement.
He urged all the delegates to take a prudent decision as the elections scheduled for May 9 are approaching. He pledged to make the cooperative bank stronger, transparent and member-centric.
