Gandaki. Pokhara—Pokhara Valley Town Development Committee has issued a public notice to remove all structures including shops and blankets within the Pokhara Bus Park area within 15 days.

The committee has directed the entrepreneurs to facilitate the construction of Pokhara Bus Park by removing the structures constructed from Pokhara Ghar to Seti Bridge, south of Prithvi Highway, north and east of Airport along Seti River area.

If the structures are not removed within the stipulated time, the committee itself will remove the structures and the cost incurred in course of the process will also be recovered from the concerned individuals and institutions, reads a notice issued on Saturday. The committee has also directed the landowners having land ownership certificates to submit a copy of citizenship certificate, land ownership certificate, receipt of property and land tax of the current fiscal year and other documents that will provide proof of land to the committee’s office within seven days.

Earlier, Pokhara Metropolitan City had issued public notice on April 19 to remove the structures constructed by encroaching upon the land of the bus park at Prithivichowk of Pokhara Metropolitan City-9. The Pokhara Valley Town Development Committee has issued another notice after the 35-day notice period expired on Saturday.

The land owned by the Pokhara Valley Town Development Committee has been inhabited by landless Dalits, landless Dalits and unsystematic settlers. Around 2031/32 BS, 205 ropanis of land was acquired for the construction of the bus park.

Currently, only around 60 ropanis of land is left after the land acquired for the bus park has been encroached upon. The metropolis has planned to forward the process of construction of the bus park by vacating the encroached land of the proposed modern Pokhara Bus Park.

According to KMC, around 500 families living in the name of landless Dalits, landless squatters and unsystematic settlers have been living in houses on the land of the bus park. The bus park will be constructed by vacating the encroached land by making proper management to the genuine squatters.
