New egg price effective from today

Chitwan. Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers’ Association has increased the farm support price of eggs. A physical and virtual meeting of the Association held in Kathmandu on Friday determined the new price of petroleum products with effect from today.

According to Association President Binod Pokharel, the new rate has been determined based on the opinion, consultation and recommendation of egg producers and entrepreneurs across the country.TAG_OPEN_div_22 According to the new price list, the price of XL eggs has been fixed at Rs 560 per crate (30), large egg (545), medium egg (515) and small egg (Rs 3,000) per crate. } The association has urged all the businessmen and stakeholders to carry out transactions at the fixed price. Pokharel said that the new support price has been determined keeping in mind the fluctuation in production due to the hot season and the increasing cost of production of farmers.

Egg prices have been on a steady rise over the past month.TAG_OPEN_div_18 On May 7, the price of XL eggs was Rs 465 per crate and the new price has gone up to Rs 560, which is 95 per cent, an increase of about 20 per cent. In the same period, the price of large egg has increased from Rs 490 to Rs 545, medium egg from Rs 400 to Rs 515 and small egg from Rs 2,300 to Rs 3,000.

According to the association, the price of eggs has been steadily improving in the last few weeks due to the decrease in production and increase in market demand.TAG_OPEN_div_16 Association President Pokharel said that the price adjustment was necessary as the cost of feed, medicines and other production materials was increasing by the farmers.

According to him, increase in tourist arrivals, tightening of import and transportation of eggs along the border and increase in demand in the domestic market have contributed to the improvement in egg prices.
