Kathmandu. There is some influence of westerly trough and local and easterly winds in upper atmosphere of the country at present.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather is generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces at present. The weather is partly cloudy in Madhes and mainly fair in Tarai region of Sudurpaschim province. Light to moderate rain is taking place at some places of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

On Monday, it will be generally cloudy in the mountainous region including Koshi Province and partly cloudy in the rest of the hilly region and in the Terai region of Madhes, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province. The weather in the rest of the Tarai region will be mainly clear.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, moderate rain along with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at some places of Koshi Province and at a few places of the mountainous and hilly regions of the country. Light rain will occur in some places while light snowfall is predicted in high mountainous area. Likewise, moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places of the Tarai region of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces as well as at one or two places of Madhes province.

Similarly, the weather will be partly cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces as well as in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country tonight.

There are chances of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places of Koshi Province while snowfall is predicted in the mountainous region. Light rain will occur at one or two places of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, there are chances of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two places of Madhes province.

The Division has urged the general public to adopt necessary precaution in view of the possible effects of thunder, lightning and rain.
