Kathmandu. Kathmandu – Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)’s Kohalpur-Surkhet 132 kV transmission line has finally restarted.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is hopeful that the problem of low voltage seen in Karnali Province would be resolved with the operation of the transmission line which would make the supply of electricity more reliable and qualitative.

According to Rabi Kumar Chaudhary, chief of Kohalpur-Surkhet 132 KV Power Transmission Line Project, the transmission line was halted after a 38-meter tall and three meter thick Sal tree fell on it and caused damages to its tower.

“The tree fell on tower no one of the transmission line at Shree Krishna buffer zone community forest area of Bardiya National Park at Chisapani of Baijanath rural municipality-1 in Banke district. The power flow through the transmission line was completely disrupted after the damages were made in yards 44 and 45,” Chaudhary said, adding a 30-meter long tree that lies outside the right of way of transmission line fell on them and caused damages to towers and conductors. The 132 KV transmission line has been successfully tested and brought into operation on June 14, 2083 after the completion of the repair and repair works of the damaged structures. ’

Power supply was managed in various districts including Surkhet through the Kohalpur-Surkhet 33 kV transmission line during the disruption of the transmission line. NEA has stated that with the operation of the 132 kV transmission line, additional quality and reliable electricity will be supplied to the districts including Surkhet, Dailekh, Kalikot, Jumla, Mugu and Rukum West through the national grid.

According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the quality of electricity generated in Karnali region will improve significantly as it will be connected to the national grid.
