Foreign Minister calls upon Chinese investors to invest in Nepal

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal has called on Chinese investors to invest in Nepal and contribute to jointly building the next chapter of ‘trans-Himalayan prosperity’.

Minister Gyawali, who is on a four-day official visit to China, said this while addressing an investment summit organized by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing today.

On the occasion, Minister Khanal said that the Government of Nepal was committed to ensuring a more efficient and business-friendly environment by highlighting Nepal’s economic opportunities and demographic potential.

On the sidelines of the conference organized by the Nepali Embassy in Nepal with the objective of promoting Chinese investment, Minister Gyawali met with Chinese entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and investors. On the occasion, the representatives of the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) made a presentation on the investment opportunities in Nepal.

Minister Khanal also held a meeting with Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, in Beijing today. During the meeting, discussions were held on consolidating the cordial and friendly relations between Nepal and China and promoting cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Minister Khanal also inspected the White Stupa at the Miaoying Temple in Beijing. Designed by Nepal’s national luminary Araniko, the heritage site stands as a symbol of Nepal-China friendship, a testament to Nepal’s historic soft power, the international prestige of Nepali artists and the richness of Nepali architecture.

Interacting with representatives of Chinese and international media on Monday, Minister Khanal put his views on Nepal’s foreign policy, Nepal-China relations, priorities of the newly formed government and Nepal’s engagement with the international community.

He arrived in Beijing on Sunday at the invitation of Wang Yi, China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Minister Khanal is scheduled to return home tomorrow after completing his visit.
