Kathmandu. Huawei’s Asia Pacific Region President Terry He led the delegation paid a courtesy call on Minister for Information and Communications Dr. Bikram Timilsina today. During the meeting, President Terry Hay said that Nepal is in a crucial phase of digital transformation and that Huawei has the necessary technology, experience and resources to achieve the same.

He also said that Huawei is ready to cooperate in different areas to make the government’s Digital Nepal campaign effective. “We are working in the areas of modernization of telecommunication infrastructure, clean energy technology, construction of modern data centers, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and digital infrastructure development and we are willing to collaborate long term with Nepal in these areas,” he added.

Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Bikram Timilsina, said reforms in telecommunications sector were in the top priority of the government and quality and reliable telecommunications services were to be expanded throughout the country.

He said that Huawei has been providing telecommunication infrastructure development and technical services in Nepal for a long time and there should not be any question on the service and performance of the company. On the occasion, Minister Timilsina urged the government to immediately resolve any problems or weaknesses in the works by prioritizing transparency and efficiency.

“Huawei’s work and service in Nepal should not be questioned. If there is a problem, it should be resolved immediately. Work transparently, responsible, and without any problems in service delivery,” he said.

In the context of Huawei’s technical assistance in Nepal Telecom, Minister Timilsina said that both sides should work in coordination to resolve the complaints coming from consumers. “Citizens have been receiving many complaints about the service of Nepal Telecom. If there are technical or any other problems, Telecom and Huawei should solve them immediately in a coordinated manner. All should be serious about providing quality services to the citizens,” he said.

On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Timilsina stressed that all business activities in Nepal should be clean, transparent and responsible.
