Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has prioritized identifying new taxpayers in business tax and providing coordination and facilitation to the taxpayers at the business place to achieve progress as per the target set in the internal income and to make revenue collection effective.
“Likewise, a provision has been made to provide 10 percent discount to the taxpayers who pay tax by mid-October to bring the taxpayers who have not come under the tax net in the coming fiscal year 2083/84,” the budget reads. Similarly, the rent tax has been reduced to 5 per cent if the rental income is less than Rs 240,000 per annum and the rent tax for residential purposes has been reduced from 10 per cent to 7 per cent. In addition, the recommendation fee has been made free of cost in some headings to increase ownership and trust in the tax. ’
It has also proposed programmes to collaborate with stakeholders including experts for tax analysis and expanding the tax base. “It has been proposed to widen the scope of taxpayers by linking them to commodity associations. Members of the Municipal Assembly, Finally, the program and budget presented in this dignified assembly for the coming fiscal year 2083/84 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City is expected to contribute to the overall development of the metropolis. ’
