Kathmandu. The government’s unpaid public debt has reached Rs 2.961 trillion.
According to the Public Debt Management Office, the amount has reached the burden of the government’s public debt till June. Of this, the government has internal debt of Rs 1,377.28 billion and external Rs 1,583.91 billion.
The share of foreign debt in public debt stood at 53.49 percent and internal debt stood at 46.51 percent as of mid-June. The outstanding public debt of Rs 287.14 billion has been added till mid-June compared to the current fiscal year. The public debt stood at Rs 2,674.04 billion as of mid-July last year.
Currently, the public debt to GDP ratio of Nepal has reached 44.87 percent. The government had set a target of mobilizing Rs 595.66 billion in public loan in the current fiscal year. As of mid-June, Rs 418.12 billion has been mobilized. The public debt is 70.20 percent against the annual target.
Of the allocated Rs 411.01 billion for the current fiscal year, Rs 351.74 billion has been disbursed till mid-June.
