Kathmandu. A fire that engulfed the house of Lakpa Sherpa last night caused damages worth Rs 1.5 million. Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi, officiating chief of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, informed that the fire broke out at the three-storey house of Lakpa of Madi municipality-3.
The fire gutted Rs 50,000 in cash, two tola gold, 30 muri of potato, three muri of rice, four muri of maize, food grains, utensils and clothes.
The fire broke out while Sherpa was sleeping, but the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. A police team led by Assistant Sub Inspector Sudesh Chaudhary from Mangalbare Police Post had headed to the incident site after receiving information about the fire.
