“The price of crude oil in the international market has fallen by more than 30 percent, but it has not decreased in Nepal.

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Pradip Poudel has said that Nepali consumers have not felt relief despite the fall in the price of crude oil in the international market.

General Secretary Poudel said that despite the steep fall in the price of crude oil in the international market, Nepali consumers have not been able to get relief. “As the price has been reduced by more than 30 percent, the general public is compelled to buy expensive fuel as the NOC has not adjusted the price in the local market,” he said. The price of crude oil, which was once $ 117.63 per barrel, has now fallen to around $ 69.21.

He said that the general public should get direct benefit and relief from the fall in the price of crude oil in the international market. Though it is said that the ‘automatic price system’ has been implemented in Nepal to link the price of petroleum products to the international market, it has not been implemented.

He demanded that the benefit of the recent drop in the price of crude oil should be handed over to the consumers and good governance should be ensured.
