Janakpurdham. Dhanauji Rural Municipality in Dhanusha district has decided to felicitate the parents and provide incentives to daughters to encourage higher education of daughters who have completed 20 years of age and are unmarried.
The rural municipality has included the plan in its policy and programme and budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 BS and it is expected to increase the access of daughters to higher education and help reduce child marriage.
In the policy and program presented at the 15th village assembly of Dhanauji Rural Municipality, the rural municipality has decided to operate the bus service from Dhanauji to Janakpurdham at a low cost keeping in mind that the residents of Dhanauji Rural Municipality have to travel to the district headquarters Janakpurdham for education, health, administrative service and business.
The bus service from Dhanauji to Janakpurdham at a low cost is aimed at easing the daily commute of the locals.
Presenting the policy and programme at the rural assembly, rural municipality chair Raj Kumar Saha said the rural municipality has the goal of reducing transportation expenses and ensuring easy access to the locals by operating regular bus service at low cost.
Dhanauji Rural Municipality is a local level located in the southern part of Dhanusha. The locals of this place have been visiting Janakpurdham daily for various works. Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Raj Kumar Das, said that the rural municipality has come up with the plan to operate the bus service at its own initiative as the locals have been facing inconvenience due to lack of private vehicles and irregularities in public transport.
Likewise, the rural municipality has prioritized health, nutrition, education, agriculture and social security programmes for the coming fiscal year. The government’s policy and programmes have set a target to declare Dhanauji rural municipality as a fully nutritious rural municipality within five years by effectively implementing the multi-sectoral nutrition programme. Programmes to reduce malnutrition, improve maternal and child health and raise awareness on nutrition would be conducted.
Likewise, the rural municipality would make arrangements to provide regular basic health services to the senior citizens at their doorsteps. The rural municipality has adopted a policy to provide regular health check-up, counseling and necessary treatment services through health workers.
Chief Administrative Officer Das said that free ambulance service would be operated for senior citizens and lactating women and free ambulance service would be provided to take them from their home to the district hospital for treatment.
The ‘One Village, Many Gardens’ programme is to be implemented with the objective of making the agriculture sector self-reliant and commercial. Through this programme, orchards of fruits and other agricultural crops will be developed in different areas of the village. The rural municipality has stated that different types of subsidy programmes would be implemented to increase agricultural production, create employment and increase farmers’ income.
According to Das, the rural municipality has focused on agriculture production, expansion of health service, nutrition improvement, social security and infrastructure development. According to him, the policies and programmes have been formulated addressing the local needs and people’s expectation.
Dhanauji Rural Municipality has proposed a budget of Rs 606.55 million for the coming fiscal year 2083/84. As per the budget presented in the rural municipality, Rs 351 million has been allocated for recurrent expenditure and Rs 255.5 million for capital expenditure.
Education, health, agriculture, social security, road and infrastructure development, drinking water, sanitation and institutional strengthening have been prioritized in the budget presented by the rural municipality chair Saha. The implementation of the budget and programmes is expected to improve the living standard of the local people and contribute to the overall social and economic development of the rural municipality.
