Kailali. Video X-ray and mammography services have been shut down at Geta Hospital under the Martyr Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences.

Information Officer of the hospital, Nain Singh Karki, said that the service has been shut down in lack of specialist doctors.

According to him, the service has been shut down after radiologist Dr Hom Panta resigned from his job two months ago after his transfer to Koshi was withdrawn. Geta Hospital used to conduct video X-ray of up to 20 patients daily.

Information Officer Karki said that the gynecologist and gynecologist has continued the video x-ray service for the pregnancy check-up. According to him, the mammography service has also been stopped in the absence of a radiologist doctor.

He said that the service was closed in the absence of a radiologist doctor as the radiologist doctor has to report the mammography to the doctor. Mammography service was introduced for the first time in the region.

The hospital has 600 beds and currently only 50 beds are in operation. Although the locals of the area have been exerting pressure from time to time for the expansion of service at the hospital, the existing services have not come into full operation. Although the hospital has already developed the infrastructure for the operation of ICU and NICU services, this service has not yet come into operation.
