Kathmandu. A meeting of the Coordination Committee on Security of Health Workers and Health Institutions which has been inactive for long has concluded.

The meeting decided to hold the meetings regularly from now onwards and expressed commitment to make the coordinated role more effective to resolve the problems related to health workers and health institutions on time.

A meeting held at the Ministry of Health and Food and Hygiene on Tuesday decided to make the existing registration and renewal system more effective through a public call to make the registration process of health workers and health institutions more systematic as per clause 7 of the Act Related to Security of Health Workers and Health Institutions, 2066.

The meeting also decided to seek suggestions in writing from the representatives of the member organisations for necessary amendment to the Acts and Regulations. It is stated that the process of amending the Acts and Regulations would be forwarded after collecting suggestions through the email assigned by the Ministry.

The Ministry has also decided to run a separate dedicated email group to make the committee’s work more effective. The meeting agenda, decisions and other necessary information would be exchanged regularly through this email.

The meeting also formed a three-member sub-committee to review the works carried out so far, document the past activities and prepare future action plan. The sub-committee comprises Dr Kunjang Sherpa, Dr Sanjeev Tiwari and Rojina Tandukar as members.

Similarly, the next meeting of the committee will be held within a month. The committee has expressed the belief that the regular meeting would address the problems related to the security of health workers and health institutions on time and necessary policy-level decisions would be taken in an effective manner.
