Kathmandu. The government has decided to refund the education and health parity fees collected so far to the concerned service seekers within 15 days.

A notice to this effect was published in the Nepal Gazette on Thursday. In exercise of the powers given by the sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the Finance Act, a provision has been made to waive the education and health parity fees for the current fiscal year.

Prime Minister Walendra Shah had announced to scrap the education and health parity fee on July 5. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on July 21 had decided to scrap the fee.

According to a notice issued by Finance Secretary Dr Ghanashyam Upadhyay, the amount collected so far by the person or agency that has collected education or health parity fee so far should be returned to the concerned payers within 15 days. If the amount is not returned within the period specified in the notice, such amount has to be deposited in the Federal Consolidated Fund.
