Kathmandu. The government has started its second day of talks with the microfinance victims.

A team led by Mahesh Acharya, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance, started talks with the microfinance survivors today.

A ministerial-level decision has been taken to hold discussion with the microfinance victims on Thursday. Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle’s personal under-secretary Nabin Dhungana said that the second day’s talks have begun at the Finance Ministry.

The committee is led by Mahesh Acharya, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Binod Bhattarai, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Suresh Panthi and Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank Ramu Poudel.

Bolraj Acharya, under-secretary at the Ministry of Finance, is the member secretary of the committee. The victims of microfinance and financial exploitation have come to Kathmandu last week putting forth various demands.

Among the demands put forth by the victims are ending financial exploitation, providing loans to farmers at cheaper interest rates, ending the middlemen on farmers and scrapping the Criminal Act.
