Kathmandu. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Yadav has directed the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection to stop the sale of counterfeit products in the market.

Now, the department has intensified market monitoring and seized more than one hundred suspicious counterfeit products. Currently, these products are being tested in the laboratory for testing their quality and originality, according to the Department.

Stating that any kind of carelessness in the sale and distribution of fake products would not be tolerated, Minister Yadav directed the department to make market monitoring more effective. She also directed them to take stern action as per the law if found guilty.

Director General of the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection Moti Sapkota said that the Department was regularly monitoring the market as some fake products were being sold in the market.

According to him, laboratory tests are underway on the seized products. Based on the test report, necessary legal process will be initiated against the related products. The department has also urged the consumers to inform the concerned body if they see suspicious or fake products.

Minister Yadav made it clear that action would be taken as per the law against anyone playing with the health of consumers and selling fake products in the market.
