Jhapa. The Haldibari Rural Municipality in course of market monitoring found that most of the groceries, hardware, clothes, snacks and salons in Badabari area of Haldibari-4 were operating without registration or necessary legal documents.

After the monitoring on Wednesday, the rural municipality has directed such businesses to be registered with the rural municipality within the next 25 days and operate only after fulfilling the necessary process. It has also directed the rural municipality to submit the price list, holding board, bill÷receipt and other necessary legal documents within the same period.

Rural Municipality vice-chairperson Laxmi Devi Mainali, who led the monitoring team, said that the monitoring campaign would be continued with the objective of making the market systematic and protecting the rights of consumers. “Our aim is to make the market systematic and bring all businesses under the legal ambit,” he said.

The rural municipality has stated that action will be taken against those businesses that fail to register and complete the required process within the stipulated timeframe. Chief Administrative Officer Man Bahadur Ban, chiefs of various branches of the rural municipality, security personnel and representatives of local chambers of commerce and industry were present in the inspection team.
