Rupandehi. KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya has said that the government needed time and people’s continued support for lasting change by ending the anomalies piling up in the country for long.

Speaking at a posting ceremony organized by RSP Rupandehi chapter in Bhairahawa, General Secretary Acharya said that efforts for reforms should be continued rather than evaluating all the works of the government within the period of 4 months. He stressed on the need of preparing long-term basis for nation building rather than seeking immediate results.

“It does not mean that a system that has been broken for thirty-six years will change in four months. Work done in the name of showing quick results may not be sustainable. It will take time to prepare the base for strengthening the country,” Acharya said.

General Secretary Acharya urged the citizens to openly question if they see any weakness in the performance of the RSP and the government. Stating that they would take the queries and warnings of the citizens positively, he said such questions would make the party more responsible and strong. “If we did something wrong, don’t hesitate to ask questions. Your questions will correct us and make us stronger,” he said.

General Secretary Acharya said that the citizens’ warning towards the government should not be taken only as protest. He said that questions and criticism are being raised as the people’s expectations from the government are high. Stating that it has been four years since the establishment of the RSP, he said it was not practical to expect that all problems would be resolved in the initial phase of the government’s operation. He said the government was working in the right direction.

Also a member of the House of Representatives, Acharya claimed that news related to various irregularities and scandals was received during the tenure of the erstwhile government. He also accused the central government of creating various hurdles in its efforts. Stating that problems have been created in the distribution of gas and fertiliser, he stressed the need of conducive environment for the government to work.

On the occasion, central member of RSP and member of the House of Representatives, Sulav Kharel said the expected change was not possible until the existing anomalies in the country were ended. He clarified that they were active in taking the problems of the citizens to the government and warning at the place of need, not to protest against the government.

Similarly, central member of the Rastriya Samajbadi Party and member of the House of Representatives, Gyanu Poudyal, said the people have high expectations from the RSP-led government and stressed that the government and the party should continuously talk to the people to fulfill these expectations.
