. More than 29,000 visitors visited the first day of Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 in Nayama on Tuesday. The expo was inaugurated by Nepal Automobiles Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) on Tuesday.
Ritu Singh Vaidya, president of NAIMA, said that the expo is not only limited to the sale and exhibition of vehicles, but also aims to bring the entire transportation and mobility sector under one platform.TAG_OPEN_p_37
Stating that uncertainty has increased among the entrepreneurs due to the policy provisions that change time and again, she suggested the government to change the policy only after consulting with the private sector and stakeholders.TAG_OPEN_p_36
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Karki urged the entrepreneurs to pay attention not only to the sale of vehicles but also to pay attention to security and social responsibility.TAG_OPEN_p_35 He advised automobile brands to pay special attention to after-sales service.
Anjan Shrestha, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said that the government has been looking at the automobile sector only as a source of revenue for a long time.TAG_OPEN_p_34 He said that automobiles should be seen as a sector of necessity and not as a luxury item.
Stating that Nepal has one of the highest customs rates in the automobile sector in the world, he said that a stable policy was necessary for electric vehicles as well.TAG_OPEN_p_33 He was of the view that although the private sector was ready for investment, the government should create favourable environment for the same.
President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), Birendra Raj Pandey, said that the government should give high priority to the automobile sector as it is one of the largest revenue contributors to the government.TAG_OPEN_p_32 He said that the investment in the transport sector and its sustainable development would make significant contribution to the overall economy.
Kamlesh Agrawal, president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, said that mobility is no longer limited to transportation but is directly related to economic prosperity.TAG_OPEN_p_31 According to him, the contribution of the mobility sector to Nepal’s GDP is around 7 percent.
He said that the automobile and mobility sector is directly related to banking, insurance, tourism, construction and information technology, and it should not be seen only as a luxury or consumption sector.TAG_OPEN_p_30
48 new models launched on the first day

On the first day of the expo, various automobile companies unveiled 48 new models of vehicles.TAG_OPEN_p_29 According to the organizers, more than 29,000 people visited the expo on the first day itself.
The organizers expect around TAG_OPEN_p_28 one and a half lakh visitors during the expo.
On the first day of the expo, a discussion was held on the theme ‘Investment and Financial Sector to Support Economic Growth’.TAG_OPEN_p_27 The program was facilitated by former banker Anil Keshari Shah, Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank and Chief of Economic Research Department. The event was attended by Mr. Satyendra Timilsina, Chairman of Dolma Foundation, Mr. Tim Gocher, CEO of Nabil Bank Mr. Manoj Gyawali and Chairman of Naima Vaidya.
