Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Best Finance Company Limited (WFCL) has launched a scheme entitled ‘Green Savings’ with the objective of implementing the ‘Nepal Green Finance Taxonomy, 2024’ issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and promoting green finance.

The deposit scheme, which aims to promote green finance and contribute to environmental protection, provides for planting a sapling on behalf of each account holder. Giving continuity to the campaign, a tree plantation programme has been organized on the occasion of Community Forest Day 2083 at the initiative of West Finance.

In line with the theme of this year’s theme ‘The Way Ahead for Community Forest: Youth Participation, Green Economy and Sustainable Management’, the Best Finance in collaboration with Mahat Gaun, Sallaghari Community Forest Users’ Committee has planted saplings in Godavari Municipality-5, Lalitpur with the support of District Forest Office, Lalitpur.

As many as 600 saplings were planted in sectors ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ of Sallaghari Community Forest under the programme.

The Sallaghari Community Forest Users’ Committee has taken the responsibility of regular handling, fertilization and protection of the saplings. If a sapling dies, another sapling will be planted in the same place and the planted saplings will be protected and managed for at least five years.

According to WestFinance, the campaign is expected to contribute towards conservation of biodiversity, increase carbon sequestration, watershed conservation, forest protection and mitigate impact of climate change.
