Palpa. The Siddhartha Highway has been obstructed due to the landslide.
Vehicular movement along the Siddhartha Highway has come to a complete halt due to the piling of stones, mud and mud on the road following the landslide.
Vehicular movement along the Palpa-Butwal road section has come to a complete halt after landslide occurred some 100 meters north from the point of entry of the tunnel way from Palpa.
The big landslide occurred at 7.00 am today, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Bhim Lal Bhattarai. Bhattarai said that although preparations are underway to open the road and remove the obstruction at the landslide-affected area, it is not possible to resume the work immediately due to the continuous landslide.
Vehicles heading to the hills from Tarai and descending from the hills to the Tarai have been stranded due to the obstruction of the highway. Vehicles to and from Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Syangja, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Mustang and Baglung are operated via this route.
Police have urged all the passengers and drivers to stay in safe places until the road is opened and unnecessary movement in the landslide-affected areas.
