Substation at Dadakhet to connect electricity generated in Myagdi river basin

Myagdi. A substation with a capacity of 132 KV has been constructed at Malika Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has constructed the substation to connect the electricity produced from the under-construction hydropower project in the Myagdi River basin to the central system.TAG_OPEN_div_43

Roshan TAG_OPEN_div_41 Agrawal, chief of the Dadakhet-Rahughat Transmission Line Project, said that the substation constructed in 51 ropanis of land has been installed with 133-33 KV, 30 MVA capacity and equipment of AIS technology.

} “The construction of physical infrastructure of Dadakhet substation and equipment installed has been tested”, he said, adding that the construction of 25-kilometer transmission line linking Dadakhet to Rahughat and Rahughat substation have reached the final stage. ”

Land management, fencing and construction of housing building for the substation had started in Dadakhet since 2075 BS. The contract agreement for the construction of the transmission line and the substation at both places was signed with Larsen & Toubro (Lnt) Limited on December 31, 2021 for Rs 3.57 billion.

The first time the deadline was extended till July 16, 2025 and the second time was extended till November 16, 2026. Subhash Chandra Sharma, project manager of the contractor company LNT, said that the work is being done with the target of completing it by December 2026.

According to him, the delay in receiving the order to cut down trees in the forest area that falls under the jurisdiction of the transmission line, poor geography of the Rahughat substation construction site, disaster risk and dispute among the community at some tower construction site have delayed the construction time.TAG_OPEN_div_33

{{TAG_OPEN_div_31} So far, out of 82 of the 82 double circuit transmission lines of 132 KV, the foundation of 80 and 72 towers have been erected. The work of pulling the wires of about 15 kilometers of transmission line has been completed. The construction of the equipment and office building of the GIS technology Rahughat substation with a capacity of 220/132/33 KV and 200 MVA capacity has reached the final stage.

The project is estimated to cost Rs TAG_OPEN_div_29 4.88 billion and has a loan of Rs 1.05 billion from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and Rs 3.82 billion from the Asian Development Bank.

The $27 million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank has been extended to $31 million. The Asian Development Bank has invested a loan to build the Rahughat-Dadakhet transmission line through the Electricity Transmission Line Modernization Project.

Four hydropower projects with a capacity of 172.8 MW are under construction in Myagdi River. The 35.5 MW Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale hydropower project, the 48 MW Upper Rahughat, the 21.3 MW Thulokhola and the 23.5 MW Upper Thulokhola hydropower projects have started production.TAG_OPEN_div_25

The 40 MW Rahughat Hydropower Project is preparing for trial production. The Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale and Thulokhola Hydropower Project built by Tudi Power has constructed temporary towers and supplied electricity to the 220 KV Kaligandaki transmission line, said Indra Dhakal, project chief of Tudi Power.TAG_OPEN_div_23
