Bodies of 5 employees found in Chilime handed over to family

Rasuwa. The bodies of 5 employees trapped in Chilime Hydropower Center have been handed over to the concerned family members today.

Baburaja Maharjan, managing director of Chilime Hydropower Company, said that the bodies of engineer Santosh Pandey, electric supervisor Minraj Moktan, watchmen Shyam Bahadur Thapa Magar and Tilak Bahadur Thapa Magar and Nepal Electricity Authority employee Lakpa Tamang were identified and handed over to their family members.TAG_OPEN_div_14

Their bodies were found on Wednesday afternoon in the control room, which is about 150 meters from the outer part of the tunnel of the power station. According to Maharjan, the bodies found inside the center were taken to Nuwakot by a Nepal Army helicopter. Personnel of the Indian Army, Armed Police Force and the Authority were deployed under the command of the Nepal Army’s brigadier for the rescue.TAG_OPEN_div_12

The flood that reached 85 meters above the tunnel which is 20 meters above the surface of the Bhotekoshi River buried the tunnel and destroyed all the structures including two turbines of 11 watt capacity, according to Maha Journal.TAG_OPEN_div_10

Similarly, Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, Kamal Prasad Pandey, said that relief distribution was going on along with search and rescue works, a 25-member committee has been formed with a mandate to collect details of the damages.TAG_OPEN_div_8
