Vishwakarma Puja, Vastu Diwas being celebrated

Kathmandu. Artisans are celebrating Vastu Diwas and Vishwakarma festival by worshiping Vishwakarma today.

TAG_OPEN_div_30 Every year on the day of Ashwin Sankranti, Vishwakarma is worshiped methodically. This day is celebrated by worshiping the picture of Lord Vishwakarma in various factories.

The workers celebrate this day with grandeur by decorating the factories in a special way. The idol of Vishwakarma, made of sand and other materials, is taken to the Bagmati source site Sundarijal or other pure place and cooled.

} There is a religious belief that worshiping the tools used by artisans on this day will bring qualities such as longevity, do not deteriorate during the work and can be done well.

TAG_OPEN_div_24 There is a religious belief that after Lord Krishna was tormented by a demon in the Dwapar era, Vishwakarma hid him in the middle of the ocean by making ‘Bhed Dwarka’. Prof. Toyaraj Nepal says that since he built ‘Bhed Dwarka’ in the middle of the ocean in a single night, there has been a tradition of worshiping Vishwakarma as a successful architect.

Dwarka is also considered as the protector of the western direction among the four guardian deities of ancient India. The ‘Bhed Dwarka’ built by Vishwakarma is still believed to be in the middle of the sea in the state of Gujarat, India. Vishwakarma is also considered to be a distinguished scholar of Vastu Vidya. Vastu Shastra Shiva Pokhrel says that he is believed to have composed the book of Vastu Shastra called ‘Vishwakarma Prakash’.

In this memory, the artisans of Nepal worship Vishwakarma Baba in a grand way and honor his wisdom. It is believed that if one worships oneself, one will also get the qualities of Vishwakarma. In the same belief, today worship is also done in engine-fitted mechanical vehicles.

Lately, the renaissance of Vastu Vidya has started in Nepal as well. One of the four sub-Vedas, the Vastu Veda mentions the subject of Vastu Shastra. The number of people building cities and houses based on the extinct Vastu Veda has also started increasing. Due to this, the importance of Vastu Vidya has increased in recent times.
