Bhotekoshi floods: 677 transport workers out of contact

{{TAG_OPEN_div_16}Kathmandu. According to the Federation of Truck Transport Entrepreneurs of Nepal, 677 workers have gone missing due to the floods.

A meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Transport Management (FNPN) held on Thursday under the coordination of Director General of the Department of Transport Management, Rajib Pokharel, informed that 515 trucks and containers were missing.TAG_OPEN_div_14

TAG_OPEN_div_12 The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has formed a committee under the coordination of Director General of the Department of Transport Management, Pokharel, to prepare a report with opinions on the assessment of human and physical damage caused by the floods and the basis of compensation. The committee has been given the responsibility to submit a report with suggestions within 15 days.

} Presenting preliminary details of the loss of lives and material caused by the floods, the Federation said that the number of contactless workers and missing trucks and containers could increase further.

The committee comprises representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Secretariat of the Minister for Infrastructure Development, representatives of transport entrepreneurs, representatives of Transport Workers Association of Nepal, President of Nepal Truck Transport Entrepreneurs Federation, Rajendra Bikram Baniya and General Secretary of Federation Badri Prasad Chaulagain, among others.TAG_OPEN_div_8
