Kathmandu. The bodies of 1,436 people who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi floods have been recovered. According to Nepal Police, as of 11:00 am today, a total of 1,434 bodies have been recovered in Rasuwa, 203 in Nuwakot, 72 in Dhading, 365 in Chitwan, 79 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi West.

According to the police, 1,292 bodies have been collected so far for the identification of the bodies. A total of 3,283 DNA samples, including 1,286 of the deceased and 1,997 of the relatives, have been collected for the identification of the bodies. The details of 1,362 unidentified bodies have been uploaded on the police website.

So far, 7,975 police personnel have been deployed in the flood-affected areas for rescue, search, relief distribution and dead body management. Search is underway for 4,655 missing people.
