Gorkha. Two people have died in an avalanche at Manaslu Mountain. A German citizen of Indian origin and his Nepali accomplice died in an avalanche last night.
According to the District Police Office, German climber Dhruba Jyoti Guha and his climbing assistant Fursemba Sherpa died after the avalanche buried them in their sleeping tent. Both of them had gone to climb Manaslu from Makalu Adventure Company Pvt. Ltd.
According to the police, both of them died after being buried by about seven feet of snow inside the tent in the third camp. Their bodies are being airlifted to Kathmandu on Monday.
With this, the death toll in Manaslu this season has risen to four. Earlier, 50-year-old Lau Wei Tseng, a climber from Singapore, also died at the second camp. Also
A 20-year-old Nepali colleague, Tashi Sherpa, also died at the base camp. A total of 480 foreign climbers have taken permission to climb Manaslu this season. The rope-fixing of the climb has been completed. The climbers are making final preparations for the climb.
