KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam has said that a law is being formulated so that officials working in constitutional bodies will not get dual facilities.

Minister Gautam said this while addressing a discussion with the members who proposed in principle and amendment on the Remuneration, Conditions of Service and Facilities of Office-bearers of the constitutional bodies (first amendment) Bill-2083 held at Singha Durbar today.

“We have brought the bill with an objective to ensure that no one should avail dual service facilities,” she said, adding, “We are preparing the law keeping the bill in mind as the Supreme Court has also decided to make necessary laws regarding dual facilities and remuneration of the office-bearers of constitutional bodies.” ”

Minister Gautam clarified that the law is being made with the aim of ensuring that the retired employees do not take both types of facilities after being re-appointed. “The resources available with the state should be used properly. This law is also necessary to end the tendency of taking dual service facilities,” she said. She also clarified that there are many clauses in the amendment bill and they are trying to make it systematic.

She also said that through the bill, no employee will get both pension and salary in a planned manner. “The basic objective is that no person should take dual facilities and the limited resources of the state can be used legitimately,” she said. ”
